“This is a milestone in my art life. I never imagined I could be selected to represent my country for such an occasion,” Yuliia Korienkova happily exclaimed when she was invited to represent the Ukrainian Pavilion with Her Art at Dubai Expo 2020. Being an engineer by profession, Korienkova is at the same time a renowned artist in the Middle East and Europe.
Having been asked how she became an artist, the young Ukrainian woman replied earnestly, “I feel I’ve always been an artist, at least. I can’t recall when I become one because since I remember, from a very early age, I’ve been painting. I’ve painted in kindergarten, in school, at university, and throughout my adult life. At any given moment, my life was filled with art in any form, me being it, creating it, or observing it. Art is inseparable from my life, and I live it when I don’t have a chance to create.”
Seeing her passion for art, you will be surprised to know that the well-known artist has quit art for a number of years. It was when she enrolled in a course in engineering and philosophy in Switzerland and Germany. Yuliia Korienkova decided to pursue her passion again only after she moved to Abu Dhabi.
Her background in engineering, technology and Artificial Intelligence has strongly influenced her inventions. Her artworks are backed by technology. As a result of her unique style, the public name Korienkova the modern-day robotic artist.
Overthinking (2021). In this 3D printing artwork, the artist describes her idea of “how our perspective changes depending on how the external world can affect our observation.”
Korienkova explained her style of art, “I’m fascinated by creations in hi-tech. I can call it contemporary art. Before, it used to be a canvas and oil, and now it’s a bold idea to create digital spaces and avatars where there is no limit for anything at all. And it’s exceeding any possible ideas every single day. Imagine, yesterday we used to watch TV, and today we can create our own reality in Metaverse and 3D printing futuristic cities.”
What is her hobby besides creating art? Reading.
Korienkova just finished reading On Dialogue by the renowned scientist David Bohm. She admires Bohm, “I’m a big fan of his philosophy. The most significant idea of this book, in my opinion, is that “Thought is One Giant System That Organizes Society.” He is trying to reach out with the idea of a better way of communicating with society. This book, in my opinion, is a must-read for people who want to lead society to a better future and prosperity.”
