Szymon Jędrzejewski’s Silhouettes of the Soul is intended to draw the viewer’s attention to the need of externalizing, as well as analyzing the origins of the emotions that stir within us. Fashion is not merely a piece of fabric; it is also the artist who creates it with a specific intention, and subsequently, the people who wear, present, and contemplate it, forming their own opinions and interpretations. Where do the shapes, textures, and colors come from? Why did you pick that particular garment today? What were you feeling at the moment of making that decision?
The concept has been represented by dressing up the captured figure of Nicole Gregorczuk in the aforementioned disturbing feelings — the looks depicted in the photographs.
The interplay of light, colors, clothing, facial expressions, and body language gives rise to six distinct, socially recognized as “inappropriate” emotions and qualities
Egocentrism
Indifference
Contempt
Envy
Anger
Sadness
Szymon Jędrzejewski wrote, “Starting to create “Silhouettes of the Soul”, I was looking for expressive styling and someone capable of conveying emotions through facial expressions skillfully. A well-known Polish model, Nicole Gregorczuk, and an eminent stylist, Katarzyna Spietelun, demonstrated a profound understanding of the task that made for the creation of such a cohesive artwork. We, as a team, hope that in a world driven by haste and superficial social connections, people will not neglect the need to experience, process, and release all emotions, including those socially considered undesirable. At last, would we even be fully human without feeling the whole spectrum?”
