Vivi Di Domenico hails from the picturesque town of Santo Antônio do Sudoeste in Paraná, Brazil, and stands as a beacon of inspiration for those who dare to dream big. Her remarkable journey began at just 12 years old when a modeling agency discovered her at school, inviting her to step into the world of fashion in New York. Yet, in a testament to her maturity, Vivi decided to wait until she turned 15 before embarking on this thrilling adventure.
Vivi honed her skills in Curitiba, where she completed her studies and nurtured her talents. This vibrant city served not only as her training ground but also as a place of personal growth, shaping her into the mature and poised woman she is today.
HARPER’S BAZAAR: How did you manage the transition from a small town in Paraná to the bustling metropolis of Chile?
VIVI DI DOMENICO: Initially, my family was hesitant about me leaving Brazil, but I knew this was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. I began my journey in Curitiba, where I completed my studies over five years. This period taught me how to be independent and resourceful, helping me grow up quickly and mature beyond my years.
HARPER’S BAZAAR: Reflecting on your time in Santiago, Chile, how did this experience shape your career and personal life?
VIVI DI DOMENICO: Santiago taught me invaluable lessons about responsibility, time management, and cultural adaptability. Interacting with people from diverse backgrounds prepared me to thrive in a global setting, making me feel more prepared and confident in my abilities.
HARPER’S BAZAAR: How did your experiences in São Paulo influence your professional and artistic journey?
VIVI DI DOMENICO: My time in São Paulo opened doors to international contracts and introduced me to acting, which has become a valuable asset to my modeling career. Every experience contributes to my growth and helps me evolve as a professional.
HARPER’S BAZAAR: Tell us about your return to the international stage. What challenges did you encounter?
VIVI DI DOMENICO: Moving to different countries comes with its unique challenges, from cultural differences to natural phenomena. I’ve faced earthquakes in Chile, hurricanes in the USA, intense heat in Dubai, and the cold of London. Each experience taught me resilience and adaptability.
HARPER’S BAZAAR: How have your multicultural experiences influenced your outlook and work ethic?
VIVI DI DOMENICO: Living in various places has made me appreciate the little things and recognize how fortunate we are in Brazil. Our culture is warmly welcomed everywhere, and I’m proud to share it with the world. Such experiences enrich my professional life immensely.
HARPER’S BAZAAR: Can you share your current projects and how you balance your roles in acting, modeling, and personal interests?
VIVI DI DOMENICO: Currently, I’m based in Miami, working as a brand ambassador while pursuing acting opportunities. Traveling for work allows me to explore new places, which is my greatest passion. Balancing my love for travel with my modeling and acting career is an exciting challenge that keeps me fulfilled.
HARPER’S BAZAAR: What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in the modeling industry, and how did you overcome them?
VIVI DI DOMENICO: One of the biggest challenges in the modeling industry is dealing with people who may try to exploit you or offer false promises. I’ve unfortunately fallen victim to scams in the past, which taught me to be more cautious and discerning about proposals and job opportunities. I’ve learned to thoroughly research and verify any agency or brand before agreeing to work with them.
HARPER’S BAZAAR: From your perspective, how has the fashion industry changed since you started, and where do you see it heading?
VIVI DI DOMENICO: The fashion industry has changed dramatically since I first started. The rise of social media and artificial intelligence has transformed the way the industry operates. Unfortunately, I feel that the profession is being valued less now, as the focus has shifted more toward digital presence and instant gratification. However, I believe that there is still an appreciation for authenticity, and I hope that the industry will balance technology with the timeless art of modeling.
HARPER’S BAZAAR: What advice would you give to young, aspiring models trying to break into the industry?
VIVI DI DOMENICO: My advice to aspiring models is to stay focused, determined, and persistent. Be very cautious when choosing an agency to represent you and when working with brands. Always verify the legitimacy and reliability of any opportunity before committing. It’s important to protect yourself and your career by being informed and making wise choices.
HARPER’S BAZAAR: How has your journey in modeling helped you grow as a person, and what have you learned about yourself through your experiences?
VIVI DI DOMENICO: My modeling career has given me the opportunity to meet diverse people, experience different cultures, and visit incredible places. It has also allowed me to learn new languages and become more open-minded. From a young age, I’ve had to be responsible and mature, which has been invaluable in my personal growth. I am extremely grateful for these experiences, as they have shaped me into the person I am today.
