1. Embracing multiculturalism
Chew’s childhood spent corralling chickens and goats on her family’s farm has left her with a deep appreciation for diversity. Transitioning from rural life to the glitz and glamor of Los Angeles, Chew brings her down-to-earth charm and worldly wisdom to every runway she walks. “I am filled with so much gratitude for the upbringing that I had and was able to experience. To this day, I feel like it’s all shaped me to be a very grounded, hardworking, and appreciative person,” she says of her upbringing.
2. Family influence and career decisions
Jocelyn Chew credits her dad’s work ethic and her mom’s unwavering belief in her potential for propelling her into the spotlight. “My parents wanted to ensure that I had all the necessary tools at my disposal to know that just because I was ‘different,’ I was still capable of all things, knowing that no ‘north star’ was too big or too small.” Armed with their encouragement, Chew set off on a modeling journey that has taken her from the barnyard to the catwalk.
3. Career milestones and aspirations
Chew’s career trajectory has been as meteoric as a shooting star on the runway. From her debut at 15 to landing major campaigns, Chew’s relentless pursuit of success is matched only by her ability to rock a runway like nobody’s business.
She speaks humbly, “I am still aiming to reach milestones every year of my life.” But she is decisive, “I know that I am not limited or confined by any factors. I have such a go-getter attitude and mentality that if there is something I want and am able to achieve, I do just that.”
4. Embracing adventure
When Jocelyn Chew isn’t striking poses, she’s striking fear into the hearts of adrenaline junkies everywhere with her extreme sports escapades. Whether she’s shredding slopes or skydiving from the stratosphere, Chew is thirsty for adventure.
“Any time I travel, I really do try to set time aside for myself to venture out and see whatever new place I am in. Could be a small town or a larger city but I do try and find cool things to do that I can experience and take with me for the rest of my life.”
5. Self-care and balance
Despite her hectic schedule, Chew knows the importance of taking time for herself—because let’s face it, even supermodels need a spa day now and then. Whether she’s sweating it out at the gym or snuggling up with her furry best friend, Chew knows that self-care is the ultimate runway to happiness.
“I love a good workout, spa experience, laying in bed with my puppy Shiloh, going on walks (Indian flute music really sets the vibe) and so much more. As long as I can carve out time to take care of myself I am a happy girl.”
6. Jocelyn Chew’s personal style and expression
She describes her style as “youthful, fun, chic and timeless. I could be wearing a sweat suit, but as long as I add a coat and bag to really elevate the look, I can take something so simple and make it me.”
Well, her style is as eclectic as a thrift store on Halloween night, but one thing’s for sure—she always looks fabulous.
Jocelyn Chew’s journey through the fashion world is a rollercoaster ride of laughter, tears, and fabulous outfits.
With her infectious energy and larger-than-life personality, Chew continues to inspire us all to chase our dreams with the same gusto as she does—because after all, life’s too short not to strut your stuff like nobody’s watching. “Everything is at your own disposal while also possible,” Chew concludes.
