In Brazil’s entertainment industry, 32-year-old Priscila Buiar stands out as a multifaceted artist with a career spanning modeling, acting, and advocacy work.
The talented young girl
Buiar’s story starts in Maringá, a lovely city in Paraná, Brazil, where her mother’s unfulfilled dreams sparked Priscila’s journey. In a family where ambitions were set aside for more traditional roles, Buiar’s mother wanted to give her daughters a different future. Her mother encouraged Priscila, who was just nine years old, to take part in a modeling talent search organized by a local agency.
This early experience in modeling was paired with an interest in amateur theater, which her mother suggested to help Priscila overcome her shyness. By the age of ten, Priscila had already begun building her modeling portfolio, traveling to São Paulo, and joining well-known child modeling agencies. What started as a fun activity soon turned into a serious career.
Studying acting
Even though Buiar found early success in modeling, her true passion was acting. At fifteen, she faced the tough standards of the fashion industry but found a new path when a film director offered her a role in her first short film, The Girl from the Bookstore.
Her love for acting pushed her to study performing arts. At seventeen, she made a big decision to enroll in a Design and Performing Arts program. With her mother’s support, Buiar chose acting over design and graduated with honors in 2014 from the State University of Londrina.
Film and television
After graduating, Buiar moved to Rio de Janeiro to further her knowledge in the audiovisual industry. There, she trained with well-known acting coaches like Fátima Toledo and Camilla Amado, and improved her skills with top professionals like Eduardo Milewicz and Ivana Chubbuck. Her dedication to acting soon paid off with roles in theater productions such as Hamlet Essential and Sinfonia da Morte, along with important roles in short films and on television.
Buiar’s television career includes standout roles in Globo’s A Força do Querer and Quanto Mais Vida, Melhor, as well as appearances in Record’s O Rico e Lázaro and Amor Sem Igual. Her film credits include Kaiser: The Greatest Footballer Never to Have Played Football and upcoming projects like Looping and Sala Escura.
The web series phenomenon
In recent years, Buiar has gained attention in the world of web series. Her role in Magenta won Best Drama Cast at Rio Webfest, and her performance in Stupid Wife brought her international recognition, with awards from Rio Webfest and Asia Web Awards.
The success of the series has broadened her audience, leading to podcast interviews and more roles in future seasons. With over 100 million views on YouTube, it has become a global hit, contributing greatly to Buiar’s popularity and the love she receives from fans worldwide..
A New Mission: Self-care and Empowerment
Along with her artistic success, Buiar is committed to using her platform for positive change. In 2023, she started the Selfcare project to inspire her followers to focus on their health and well-being. The project promotes exercise, healthy eating, and financial knowledge, along with talks on mental health with experts.
Buiar’s focus on self-care also includes building a supportive community through book clubs and discussions that encourage personal growth and understanding. Her work aims to empower women to take control of their lives and reach their full potential.
