Carolina Bellachi believes art must involve change and social movement. She believes that society must change and adapt to the environment. Through her nature-themed art, she shows deep human emotions using her signature lights and mystical, impressionistic landscapes. She aims to evoke feelings of connection and essence beyond our busy, analytical minds.
Her art encourages viewers to use their senses in the present moment, feeling a connection with the energy of creation.
Harper’s Bazaar Vietnam (HBZVN): Dear Carolina Bellachi, how did you discover your artistic talent, and what motivated you to abandon everything and dedicate yourself fully to it?
CAROLINA BELLACHI: Since I was a little girl, I have loved painting. I am a very sensitive person and have always been interested in nature, the meaning of life, and painting. Painting has always helped me. It relaxed me and allowed me to escape from reality, which, due to my sensitivity, was often very stormy. I decided to dedicate myself to painting when I was finishing my psychology studies. At that time, I was also studying books on Eastern philosophy and some concepts of quantum physics. On a very important day for me, I decided to leave my previous job, and I went to buy a canvas and paints. That’s when something inside me told me that I had to paint…
“Connecting conscious philosophy with art is something innovative, and I have never been afraid to do it. I have always noticed a very strong inner drive to do it.”
HBZVN: What you tell us is very interesting, but could you explain to us in more depth what this connection between conscious philosophy and art consists of?
CAROLINA BELLACHI: During my studies, I delved into something that I have always wondered about and been curious about since I was a child… What is life? What is reality? I realized, as many scientific studies have corroborated, that we exist in the present moment… a continuous energy beyond our mind. We have a mental ego that lives in the past and future, that talks to ourselves and analyzes everything. This is fantastic, but the problem arises when the mind dominates us, which is becoming one of the biggest problems worldwide today.
My works reflect our true essence, the “I” that exists in the present moment and only observes. This “I” is above our mind and can observe both the external world and our internal thoughts and emotions. By being in the present moment, without our mind ruling us, we can observe the work from a deeper and more real state. For this reason, in my works, I use natural themes such as the sea, as well as lights and abstract representations that invite the observer to enter and connect with the works. From this form of conscious reality, people can “enter” the work and use their senses to capture the essence and message of each piece.
HBZVN: All this is fascinating. We have understood the connection of the work with the observer, but what connection exists between the works and this new concept of art?
CAROLINA BELLACHI: Since prehistory, art has been a form of expression for society, reflecting each evolutionary moment that has changed since humans began. Now is a time of change. Society has evolved in technology and the external world to improve our lives, but we as human beings are not in the correct balance. Everything is in continuous change, and art has evolved to address themes such as religion, as humans have always sought meaning in life beyond the routine questions of daily life. Therefore, I consider this to go beyond religions and mental contexts, focusing on advancement as human beings, developing emotional intelligence and neutral plasticity, which are currently on the rise. Art is the mirror of this new form of conscious social change and human evolution. Just as past societies used art to reflect their history, today’s art can portray the new, intelligent, and conscious human being.
HBZVN: How did you begin to sell your works under this new artistic philosophy? Did this influence your buyers?
CAROLINA BELLACHI: I started selling my works on Instagram and through commissions. Gradually, my clients became interested in this philosophy, and I sold more and more. Eventually, important people began to buy my works, and I realized that people liked my art and its philosophy. A year ago, different galleries, prestigious auction houses, and magazines began to contact me. Now, I have had to stop taking commissions and focus solely on selling my works at auctions and galleries. I feel very proud and fortunate for what has been created in such a short time and for what is yet to come.
HBZVN: Finally, tell us about your artistic technique. What style do you use in your technique?
CAROLINA BELLACHI: I use my own artistic technique, emphasizing movement as a form of dimensional reality, which originates from abstraction. Life itself is abstract and empty, and it is we who shape it with our minds. The lights balance with darker tones and the reliefs of the work, giving shape to the movement. Atoms and molecules, which make up everything, are in constant motion. Even if we are stationary, the world rotates and everything is constantly changing; everything involves time and movement in a relative way. I use natural and mineral themes and special paste materials in many of my works. My style is abstraction on different levels, depending on the work and motif. Lights are the protagonists in most of my works, representing the peace and calm we all carry within us. All my works represent an inner journey, a conscious motive, a pain… Everything is a learning experience. Human beings are impressive. I think we shouldn’t waste ourselves… We should observe.
